When Office Furniture Creates A Habitat
In a modern society, where every human being is striving to become a successful individual on the ever more demanding socio-economical scale, the environment becomes even of a greater importance as compared to the previous years. We no longer spend the required 8 hours at work because the expectations have changed. And so have we. Our office is our home. Therefore, the office furniture loses its strict functional qualities. We demand comfort, utility, elegance. Office furniture is meant to correspond to our needs, to our quality of effective people who are expected to work properly.
When choosing office furniture, one particular consideration must be given a closer look: what is that office furniture destined for? Is it meant to fulfill exclusively the practical needs of the occupant of that office? Or, more importantly, should it to go beyond that?
I would argue that the office furniture must define the person who spends a great deal of time in that place. The individual's needs and desires should be taken into great consideration.
Office furniture is no longer grim, simple, nor cheap. We are far beyond that. An exquisite, luxurious, expensive, stylish office furniture is the signature of a well-off, powerful, intelligent person who knows how to respect himself/herself and his/her customers or guests. Therefore, one cannot overlook the impact of how our habitat characterizes our mode of being, our status both as social beings and as individuals working in a modern world.
It has been proven that the companies that provide an elegant place of work to their employees are far more successful because of the fact that the customers tend to be attracted to the companies that, at least, offer the impression that they have a high rank. The first impression is no longer a cliché. It’s a reality that guides our society.
When we refer to office furniture, we cannot disregard the home office pieces that preserve the attributes presented above. The office furniture in our homes is meant to bring us the comfort and the utility needed, so as to offer us the chance to work effectively.
Office furnishings are, thus, not just furniture. It is a lifestyle... a "meter" that calculates our social status, a habitat. It is a piece of work that brings "home" at work, and the other way around. This century's idea in terms of office furniture is making people feel at home away from home.
